Lorraine Eden Lorraine Eden

Lorraine Eden is Professor of Management and Mays Research Fellow at Texas A&M University, College Station, Texas. She is on sabbatical leave in 2013-2014, visiting at The Ohio State University.

A naturalized US citizen born and raised in Canada, Professor Eden received her PhD with Distinction in Economics from Dalhousie University. Her current research focuses on two areas: the economics of transfer pricing (the pricing of related party transactions), and multinational (MNE) strategies for coping with institutional distance, liability of foreignness and “hot spots” (e.g., conflict zones, corrupt economies, tax havens). She has published more than 150 articles in journals such as Academy of Management Journal, Academy of Management Review, Canadian Journal of Economics, Journal of International Business Studies, and Organization Science. Of her several books, the best known is Taxing Multinationals (University of Toronto Press, 1998).

She has been a Fulbright Scholar, a Pew Fellow, and a receiver of multiple awards including election as a Fellow of the Academy of International Business in 2004, and the President’s Award from the Academy of International Business in 2012. She is a former Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of International Business Studies, and the founder of WAIB (Women in the Academy of International Business). Professor Eden teaches courses on transfer pricing, multinationals, and the economics of international business at Texas A&M University. She consults on transfer pricing and MNE strategies with the Analysis Group, and offers ADIT-approved transfer pricing training through 86Pillars. She can be reached at leden@tamu.edu.

 

 Deborah Hicks

Deborah Hicks is the founder of DJH international tax, which offers a range of services in tax training and networking. In her early career she worked with two of the Big 4 accounting firms, and with what is now one of the world’s leading law firms. Deborah later joined the tax department of a US-owned international film distributor. Her publishing career began with Tolley (now part of Lexis Nexis) where she joined as an editor of the well-known Tolley Tax Annuals, later becoming Features Editor on Taxation magazine and taking a leading role in the company’s newsletters and conferences division. In 1997 Deborah joined BNA International, rising to the role of Publishing Director. In 1999 she headed the project of making available online all of BNA International’s publications and subsequently created and developed the company’s first online-only product.

In 2008 Deborah took over the training programme acquired when BNA International purchased the European American Tax Institute, also managing the EATI’s membership activity. Deborah has served as Secretary on the committee of the European branch of the Chartered Institute of Taxation for over 15 years and latterly became Vice Chairman of the branch with specific responsibility for Switzerland. She is also a member of the International Fiscal Association.

Deborah has been a keen exponent of the Chartered Institute of Taxation’s Advanced Diploma in International Taxation (ADIT) programme, leading a team of experts that produced the syllabus for the new transfer pricing paper in 2011. DJH international tax offers a dedicated training programme to prepare students for a wide range of papers, including the principles of international taxation, transfer pricing and US international taxation. In May 2013 Deborah launched the US Professionals Association, a networking and discussion group for advisers to US expatriates.

 

 Ramon Dwarkasing

Dr. Ramon Dwarkasing LL.M. is an international tax advisor with a PhD in transfer pricing. Dr. Ramon S.J. Dwarkasing LL.M holds a doctorate in tax law and transfer pricing from Tilburg University, the Netherlands. He holds an LL.M. in international tax law from the International Tax Center Leiden and a master of tax law from Tilburg University, the Netherlands.

Dr. Dwarkasing is an international tax law and transfer pricing specialist at Maastricht University the Netherlands. Dr. Dwarkasing is also the managing director of Dwarkasing & Partners, a professional services organization offering high-end transfer pricing and economic advices to governments of developing countries worldwide. Furthermore Dr. Dwarkasing is also an Of Counsel at Transfer Pricing Associates (TPA), an independent professional service and solution provider of expert transfer pricing, valuation and customs services.

Dr. Ramon S.J. Dwarkasing is specialized in interpreting, drafting, formulating and teaching tax treaty law and transfer pricing legislation under the context of OECD Model Draft Convention and UN Model. As special consultant he provides governments and tax administrations around the world (in particular emerging and developing economies) with technical assistance for their tax reform process and their drafting process of transfer pricing legislation. He is also the author of the book "Associated Enterprises - A Concept Essential for the Application of the Arm's Length Principle and Transfer Pricing".
